– About Mariposa
Discover the perfect pairing of old and new at Villa Mariposa. Perched high above the village of Kassiopi, this newly built Corfu vacation rental boasts sweeping views of nearby beaches and even the mountains of Albania in the distance—the classic scenery you’d expect from the Greek coast. Inside, however, this luxury villa is equipped with state-of-the-art smart-home technology, as well as accommodations for up to a dozen friends or family members.
Villa Mariposa is nestled into lush gardens with pretty olive trees and stretches of grass where younger guests can play. Four pergola-covered outdoor living areas provide a respite from the Mediterranean sun, or you can soak in the views from the loungers on the terrace around the infinity pool. A barbecue makes it easy to serve up local specialties at the al-fresco dining area. Linger outside to watch the last light of the day play over the waves, or step inside to watch the satellite TV, put on a movie in the media room or cozy up to the wood-burning fireplace. There’s also a room with exercise equipment so you can keep up with your fitness routine while on holiday.
The villa’s interiors are spare and charming, with beamed ceilings, wide tile floors and a sleek and simple fireplace surround. There’s space for the whole group on the low-slung sectional or around the wooden dining table, and the fully equipped kitchen has both a practical island layout and the small delight of an espresso machine. The house also has a Control Four smart-home system, which guests can use to change the lighting, temperature, shutters and more from five provided tablets, and several Sonos speakers that can be used to play guests’ own music collections.
Each of the four bedrooms at Villa Mariposa has a private en-suite bathroom, air conditioning and access to the pool terrace, a separate terrace or a balcony. The master bedroom has a queen bed and sea views, a second bedroom has a double bed, and two bedrooms with two twin beds each offer flexible arrangements. For larger parties, there are also two additional bedrooms with two twin beds each and en-suite bathrooms.
Though it’s tempting to stay at the villa from sunrise to sunset—both of which can be viewed from the terrace—the village and nearest beach are both less than a quarter-mile away on foot. Stroll down to Soukia Beach to walk along its pebbled shores or snorkel in its clear waters, or head into Kassiopi to sample pastries from one of its bakeries or have a honeymoon-style dinner at an oceanfront restaurant. For a livelier scene, make the 50-minute drive into downtown Corfu.
